In this role you will be part of a team of empowered multi-disciplined engineers to take responsibility for the manufacturability of current and new products to ensuring that the Operations quality, delivery, and cost targets are achieved. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production support: Ensure that all electronics based problems are resolved to achieve Production/Materials customer delivery dates and targets

  • Resolve immediate product electronics and related systems problems using an escalated approach (Lean methodology)
  • Use preventative methods to ensure problems do not reoccur
  • Manage the cut-in of Engineering Changes (ECR > ECN) to Production/Materials
  • Liaise with suppliers on quality/component/test problems
  • Identify and resolve any electronics based Health and Safety problems in Production

New product introduction: Take responsibility for the manufacturability of new products and ensure a smooth transfer of the product into production

  • Participate in NPI design reviews/DFMEA’s to ensure DfM and DfT are adhered to
  • Ensure appropriate test methodologies are incorporated and analysed at design stage
  • Component specifications and supplier selection with Purchasing
  • Assistance in generation of eCAD, assembly and test documentation
  • Support 'Nursery cells’ for new product transition from NPI to Production

Technical: Provide the electronic engineering contribution towards instrument systems as part of the company’s range of products specifically covering:

  • PCBA testing - e.g. ATE, functional testing, in-circuit testing, boundary-scan
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout (eCAD) skills - e.g. Altium, CADStar
  • Microprocessor/microcontrollers/FPGAs/DSPs - (Xilinx, PIC, ST, Atmel, etc)
  • Firmware/software experience - Python, C++, .NET/C#, LabVIEW, MATLAB
  • Analogue circuits - e.g. SMPS, signal conditioning, ADC
  • PCB/EMS manufacturing knowledge
  • EMC and LVD regulatory requirements awareness

Any other reasonable duties which may be required to meet the needs of the business which are in the spirit and scope of the role

  • Support and follow company procedures and processes
  • To respond to production problems in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities for self-development
  • Training provided based on relevance
  • To assist in the day-to-day administrative duties as appropriate and to produce written reports and financial records as requested

ACCOUNTABILITY:

External:

  • Maintain quality for all electronics suppliers
  • Assess viability of new suppliers as part of new product introduction process

Internal:

  • Ensure all electronics based production demands are met
  • Ensure new products are introduced to production before target date

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Quality Notifications (non-conformance turnover)
  • 8D support
  • FTPR

COMMUNICATION:

  • Customer and Supplier Communication
  • Liaise with suppliers, in resolving quality or cost issues
  • Occasional written or oral communication with customers in resolving Customer Feedback issues

Internal Communication

  • Regular internal communications with Product Management, R&D, Sustaining, Customer Support, Purchasing/Materials and Production
