Key Account Manager
Up to £35,000 depending on experience
Our client is a small, well-backed and fast-growing business, located in Derby, supplying specialist engineering services and manufacture to the rail passenger rolling stock sector. The company is a well-established player in their sector, with a strong reputation for the highest quality workmanship, excellent customer service and innovation. It is this, combined with increasing market opportunity, that forms the basis of their, ongoing, strategy for growth. The sector offers enormous potential for the development of new and unique services, delivering significant savings to their clients and positioning themselves as their trusted advisors. Additionally, there is massive potential within a new and untapped customer base, which they’re now proactively developing.
They now seek to appoint a commercially minded, Key Account Manager to develop new relationships and to support their growing team. The role isn’t a hard sell; it is that of engineering solution provider, developing technically motivated professional relationships within a warm customer base.
This is an exciting role, with the objective of developing additional business with new customers as well as maintaining relationships with existing clients. Our client has a long-established reputation and large client base and the scope of the work that our client is able to deliver is broad, offering a variety and breadth of technical solutions, all with highly commercial benefits to the customer. There is little competition within the sector, hence potential customers will be receptive.
You will be willing and able to undertake a consultative approach to networking and able to develop sustainable, professional relationships. You should be commercially astute, self-motivated and driven to succeed in achieving your business development targets. You will be willing to scope out potential markets and customers and to participate in and drive proactive marketing and cold approaches, arranging meetings with decision makers and converting opportunity into orders.
Experience in mechanical engineering and an interest in the rail transport sector would be advantageous but is not essential. Equally, you will have strong people skills and feel comfortable in developing new relationships, with a drive to meet agreed targets.
