Our client is a well-established leader in their field, having successfully completed a merger with a large and progressive international business. Following this, their R&D team is now looking for a Team Lead to join them to focus on sustaining & improving existing products.

As a part of a dynamic and growing R&D team, you will be responsible for leading various complex projects, covering mechanical and electronic design issues for a range of scientific and industrial products, supporting the identification of design improvements, testing, and provision of commercially viable solutions.

The responsibilities of a R&D Team Lead are to:

  • Lead the analytical and pragmatic approach to problem-solving for mechanical and electronic design concepts, managing a multi-disciplinary team and working with various areas of the business, such as supply chain, other R&D and cross-functional leaders, to deliver multiple projects
  • Work closely with the customer, building strong relationships to gain clear understanding of issues and needs.
  • Manage and guide junior engineers, supporting their development of design techniques, analysis and experimentation.

The skills of a R&D Team Lead are:

  • Experienced in communicating with and leading teams of various disciplines.
  • Expert communication and presentation of complex engineering issues.
  • System development experience, specifically of measurement instrumentation.
  • Prior experience of engineering change control (ECN) processes, customer feedback (CFB), and experience of Lean manufacturing techniques (SPC).
  • Strong experimental techniques.
